CUSTOMER ANNOUNCEMENT SUBJECT: ISPM 15 Industry Notice for Airfreight to Australia
Date 20 December 2005 Dear Customer ISPM 15 Industry Notice for Airfreight to Australia Please be advised that effective 1st January 2006 the Australian Quarantine & Inspection Service (AQIS) will be implementing ISPM15 compliance for AIRFREIGHT. Note that in effect this now places airfreight in almost the same situation as Seafreight namely: Any timber used (pallets, crates etc) must either be: (a) treated to ISPM15 standard and stamped accordingly or (b) treated to Australian standards by an authorized fumigation company and a fumigation certificate must accompany the commercial documents. The only difference from Seafreight is that at this stage the AQIS Packing Declaration that is mandatory for every Seafreight shipment will not be required for airfreight. This may change during 2006 and if so we will advise and send you through examples of the packing dec if different to the Seafreight version. A Copy of the ISPM 15 Compliance Regulations are available in the Latest News on our web page.
